On June 6, 2026, a team from the African Conservation and Development Foundation (ACDEF) conducted a field mission in Messok, in the Haut-Nyong Department, Eastern Region of Cameroon. This locality, located in the heart of the Congo Basin, is a strategic area for the conservation of tropical forests and their exceptional biodiversity.
The main objective of this meeting was to establish a dialogue with local populations and various stakeholders in the territory to identify concrete and sustainable solutions for the protection of forest ecosystems and the preservation of biodiversity. The discussions also allowed for a better understanding of the environmental challenges faced by the communities living near the forests and to think together about mechanisms that promote their involvement in conservation actions.
The Dadé Kaolé Association actively participated in this working session through its Coordinator, Mr. Iverick NKOPANI. On this occasion, he presented the vision, missions, and achievements of the organization, which has been working for several years to defend the rights and interests of indigenous peoples, while positioning them as key players in sustainable development and the protection of natural resources.
The Coordinator also highlighted the initiatives undertaken by the Association in the municipality of Messok, particularly through its local office, in favor of forest conservation, the enhancement of traditional knowledge, and the strengthening of indigenous communities' participation in the sustainable management of natural resources.
In light of the convergence between the objectives pursued by ACDEF and those of Dadé Kaolé, the Association reaffirmed its commitment to support this initiative and to contribute to the implementation of coordinated actions for the preservation of the forests of the Congo Basin.
Created to promote nature conservation and community development, ACDEF (African Conservation and Development Foundation) is an international organization specialized in environmental protection, the conservation of great apes, and supporting local communities in the Congo Basin.
