As part of a study trip organized by the Department of Anthropology at the University of Yaoundé I, a group of Master's students in Traditional Chiefdoms stayed from May 17 to 18, 2025, in the Municipality of Messok, in the Messok District, Haut-Nyong Department, East Region, to learn about and understand the ancestral customs and traditions of the local populations.

Invited to take part in the aforementioned descent by His Majesty Tutab Aleokol, the Dadé Kaolé Association mobilized the indigenous peoples of the Ndjangué camp in Messok. The students learned about the customs and traditions of the Baka people, with an emphasis on pharmacopoeia. The Baka presented to the apprentices the treasures that our forests hold in terms of medicinal wealth. A unique know-how that Professor Paul ABOUNA, Head of the Department of Anthology at the University of Yaoundé 1 and also Head of Mission for this delegation, was able to appreciate, along with the team of students accompanying him. He encouraged the Baka to communicate more and promote their skills, which could greatly contribute to the fight against certain diseases.

As night fell, the guests were able to appreciate the cultural richness through traditional dances and stories around a large wood fire.
