In the lead-up to the International Human Rights Day and as part of the Central African Indigenous Peoples Echoes Project (PEPAAC), the Regional Office for Central Africa of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, in collaboration with the CARO expert office, organized a workshop in Bertoua from December 9 to 10, 2025. The main objective of this meeting was to conduct local advocacy and strengthen the capacities of at least 35 indigenous leaders on the human rights of indigenous peoples..

This workshop aimed particularly at providing participants with tools for monitoring and reporting cases of violations of the rights of indigenous peoples. Furthermore, it lays the groundwork for establishing a local network of monitors engaged in the defense and promotion of the rights of indigenous peoples in Southeast Cameroon. Ultimately, a database will be created to systematically and rigorously document these cases..

The Dadé Kaolé Association actively participated in these meetings, represented by its coordinator, Iveric Nkopani, who attended the workshop to enhance his skills and further equip himself in defending the rights and interests of indigenous peoples. This participation is fully aligned with the Association's missions, which spares no effort in defending the rights and improving the living conditions of these vulnerable communities..

This workshop represents a further step towards the empowerment of indigenous leaders and the strengthening of a supportive network committed to the fight for human rights in this region of Cameroon. The Dadé Kaolé Association reaffirms its commitment to continue playing an active role in promoting the rights of indigenous peoples and supporting them in the preservation of their traditions and lands..
